In the summer of 1999, a senseless act of violence cut short the life of Craig D. Butler, a 43-year-old man from Philadelphia. On July 1st, while visiting a friend for the Fourth of July weekend, a minor incident quickly escalated into a fatal encounter. After accidentally backing his car into a basketball pole, Butler was shot by a 14-year-old. Despite his offer to pay for any damage, the teenager responded with lethal force, ending Butler's life.
