Garry Dewane Lee, a 22-year-old Black man from Pittsburgh, PA, tragically lost his life on April 28, 2000. His death was part of a racially motivated killing spree carried out by Richard Baumhammers, a 31-year-old white man. Baumhammers, who was unemployed at the time, went on a shooting rampage targeting individuals of different ethnicities.
