Gary Frank Skerski, a 46-year-old male of Caucasian ethnicity, was a dedicated 16-year veteran of the Philadelphia Police Department. On May 8, 2006, Officer Skerski was tragically shot and killed while responding to an armed robbery call at Pat's Café, located near the intersection of Arrott and Adams Avenues. A patron in the café had called 911 to report the robbery, prompting Officer Skerski, who was working an overtime detail, to respond to the scene.
