In the evening chill of a Philadelphia January, a burst of gunfire shattered the ordinary atmosphere of a Target parking lot, leaving a young man's life extinguished and a community in shock. Daykwan Carter, a 25-year-old male, was discovered inside a white Jeep Grand Cherokee, having sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the head on the night of Tuesday, January 21, 2020. The engine of the vehicle was still running when police arrived at the scene in the Wynnefield Heights section of the city.
