Deputy Sheriff Mack Roberts of the Leslie County Sheriff's Office in Kentucky met a tragic end on December 25, 1905. His death occurred during a turkey shooting match at Big Fork, approximately 20 miles from Hyden. The event turned deadly when a dispute over the match escalated into a gunfight involving several men. During the chaos, a man involved in the dispute was shot and killed.
