Do you know who murdered Anthony McKeiver? In the summer of 2017, tragedy struck the Parkland neighborhood of Louisville, Kentucky, with the death of Anthony McKeiver, a 58-year-old Black male. On the night of June 22nd, police responded to calls of shots fired in the area of 26th and Howard streets around 9 p.m. Shortly after, they discovered McKeiver in a nearby alley. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:09 p.m.
from gunshot wounds.
McKeiver, who was known to be homeless, was a familiar face in the neighborhood and was often seen on the porch of a vacant house. Many witnesses in the area reported hearing a rapid succession of gunshots, a chilling sound that pierced the evening quiet. Despite the number of people who heard the gunfire, law enforcement officials stated that they had no immediate suspects in the shooting.
In the days that followed, an obituary for Anthony, also known as 'Tony,' was published. It noted that he was a graduate of Doss High School's class of 1977 and a father to numerous children, as well as a grandfather to twelve. His funeral was held on July 3rd at New Zion Baptist Church, with his burial in Green Meadows Cemetery. Although authorities have continued to investigate and have followed up on leads, the homicide case of Anthony McKeiver remains open. Police have encouraged anyone with information to come forward, hopeful that a tip from the public might bring a resolution to the senseless killing.
