A Black male, Bailey was engaged in the mundane task of cutting grass in the Park Duvalle neighborhood on Friday, May 19th, when his life was tragically cut short. According to a relative who was inside a nearby home at the time, the sequence of
events was terrifyingly swift. He recalled hearing the gunshots and then Bailey, his nephew, rushing into the house, stating he had been shot and urging a call to 911. First responders arrived at the scene on Olive Street to find Bailey critically injured. They administered CPR until he could be transported to the University of Louisville Hospital. Despite the efforts to save him, Javon M. Bailey succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
