In the early hours of Easter Sunday, April 5, 2015, the life of 19-year-old Ray Anthony Joseph Jr. was tragically cut short on the streets of Louisville, Kentucky. An altercation in the area of 40th Street and Grand Avenue escalated into gunfire, and when police responded to a call around 12:40 a.m., they found the young Black male fatally wounded.
Two other individuals were also shot during the incident but were transported to University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
In the immediate aftermath, the Louisville Metro Police Department announced they were investigating the shooting as a homicide and were actively searching for suspects. The initial reports did not name any persons of interest, and the circumstances surrounding the altercation remained under investigation. Years later, information surfaced suggesting a possible connection between Ray Joseph Jr.'s death and a more extensive and notorious criminal case in Louisville involving a man named Brice Rhodes. While Rhodes was implicated in multiple murders, his specific involvement in Joseph's death has been part of an ongoing investigation. Despite this lead, definitive information regarding arrests or charges directly related to the murder of Ray Joseph Jr. has remained elusive, leaving his family and community still seeking full closure and justice for his untimely death.
