Naasir Boyd, a 24-year-old man from Philadelphia, was killed on the night of March 30, 2026, when gunfire erupted in the Cobbs Creek section of West Philadelphia. The shooting happened around 8:40 p.m. near 60th and Delancey streets, around the 300 block of South 60th Street, where several people were gathered when a shooter opened fire.
Police found five victims after the shooting. Boyd and another 24-year-old Philadelphia man, Paul Cobb, were both struck in the chest.
Officers rushed Boyd to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in a patrol vehicle, but he died from his injuries a short time later. Cobb was also taken to the hospital and died that night. Three other men survived the shooting, including a 36-year-old man shot in the stomach who was listed in critical condition, along with two other men, ages 54 and 35, who were hospitalized in stable condition after being shot in the leg.
Investigators said the gunfire appeared to come from a masked gunman inside a white vehicle. At the scene, evidence markers lined the street as police recovered numerous shell casings, with reports describing at least 15 casings found near the area. The attack left a wide crime scene in the neighborhood and immediately raised questions about whether the victims had been targeted or whether the shooter fired into a crowd indiscriminately.
As of the available reports, police had not announced any arrests, named any suspects, or released a motive in Boyd’s killing. Authorities were searching the area for surveillance video and asking witnesses or anyone with information to contact Philadelphia police. Families of the victims also urged people in the community to come forward, hoping that someone who saw the vehicle, the masked shooter, or the moments leading up to the gunfire could help investigators identify who was responsible.
Boyd’s death remains tied to a broader mass shooting that killed two young men and wounded three others in Cobbs Creek. The case was still being treated as an active homicide investigation, with the shooter still publicly unidentified and no charges or court proceedings reported.
