In the Highland Gardens area of Chester, Pennsylvania, a dispute that began with an argument between two women on December 28, 2009, tragically escalated, leading to the death of 21-year-old Otis Bullock. The initial confrontation involved Otis Bullock's sister and the girlfriend of a man named Angus 'Gus' Richardson. This verbal altercation soon drew in Otis and his brother, Leon Bullock, who became involved in a physical fight with Richardson.
Following the initial scuffle, Richardson
left the scene. About 30 minutes later, he returned to the Bullock residence in a white Jeep, this time accompanied by another individual. Richardson, armed with a shotgun, opened fire on the two brothers. Otis Bullock was struck in the chest and succumbed to his injuries. His brother, Leon, was also wounded in the shooting but survived after undergoing surgery.
Immediately after the shooting, Angus Richardson fled the state. A manhunt ensued, and he was apprehended 36 days later in Wilmington, North Carolina. Richardson was brought back to Pennsylvania to face charges for his crimes. Following a weeklong trial, a jury found him guilty of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted murder. During the trial, Richardson admitted to the shooting, claiming he acted in a fit of rage. For the murder of Otis Bullock, Angus Richardson received a mandatory life sentence in prison without the possibility of parole.
