In the winter of 2013, the life of 26-year-old Derek Christian Ferree of York, Pennsylvania, was tragically cut short. On the evening of Saturday, November 23, Ferree, a Caucasian male, was fatally shot in what authorities have described as a drug deal that spiraled into a double homicide. The incident, which also claimed the life of 23-year-old Braydon Aldinger, unfolded in the 500 block of West Mason Avenue in York.
Investigations into the deaths of Ferree and Aldinger quickly pointed
to a prearranged meeting that had turned deadly. According to court documents, the two victims had allegedly conspired with a third individual, Arianna Tavares, to rob a heroin dealer. This plan ultimately led to the violent confrontation that resulted in both Ferree and Aldinger being shot and killed at the scene.
In the wake of the double homicide, law enforcement identified two primary suspects: Dejerek Basil Smallwood, 21, and Laquan Anderson Pierrelouis, 22, also known as 'Q.' Smallwood was apprehended by police in York on December 12, 2013, and faced charges of criminal homicide for his role in the killings. Pierrelouis, however, remained at large for several months, becoming the subject of a manhunt.
The search for Pierrelouis extended beyond Pennsylvania, and he was eventually located and arrested in New York City on March 27, 2014. Upon his arrest, Pierrelouis reportedly provided a false name and identification to the authorities. He was subsequently held in New York pending extradition to face homicide charges in connection with the deaths of Derek Ferree and Braydon Aldinger. Arianna Tavares was also charged with conspiracy to deliver heroin for her alleged involvement in the events leading to the fatal shootings.
