Jesus Emmanuel Cintron-Molina, a 35-year-old male born in Bayamón, Puerto Rico, was shot on the evening of October 3, 2023, in York, Pennsylvania. What began as a violent burst of gunfire on West Market Street quickly became one of York’s homicide investigations of the year. Police and emergency crews were called to the area around 7:20 p.m., where they found Cintron-Molina wounded in the street after multiple shots had been fired. He was rushed to WellSpan York Hospital, but the damage from the shooting was too severe. He was pronounced dead at 8:04 p.m.

Cintron-Molina’s death was later ruled a homicide after an autopsy determined that he died from multiple gunshot wounds. Authorities said the shooting was not believed to be random. Investigators reported that Cintron-Molina knew the person who shot him and that he appeared to have been targeted, though the motive was not publicly established. In the short time between the shooting and his death, Cintron-Molina gave investigators the name of the man he said had shot him: Freddie Reyes-Luna.

That dying declaration became central to the case. Police identified Reyes-Luna, then 29, of York, as the suspect and charged him with criminal homicide. He was taken into custody two days after the shooting, on October 5, 2023, when U.S. Marshals arrested him in Lebanon County. After his arrest, Reyes-Luna was held without bail, as required in Pennsylvania criminal homicide cases.

Cintron-Molina’s death left behind a large grieving family. He was remembered in obituary information as the husband of Leyza M. Cintron, the son of Julio Cintron and Irma Molina, and the father of several children. He worked as a barber and was described by loved ones as caring, loving, and someone who lived life fully. His killing marked another act of gun violence in York, and officials identified it as one of the city’s homicides for 2023.

The case moved forward against Reyes-Luna, and prosecutors ultimately brought him to trial. On April 10, 2025, a York County jury found Freddie Reyes-Luna guilty of first-degree murder for killing Cintron-Molina. The conviction meant jurors accepted that Reyes-Luna was responsible for the fatal shooting and that the killing met the legal standard for first-degree murder.

On May 6, 2025, Judge Maria Musti Cook sentenced Reyes-Luna to life in prison without the possibility of parole, the mandatory sentence for first-degree murder in Pennsylvania. He also received a concurrent sentence of five to ten years on a firearms charge and was ordered to pay restitution to Cintron-Molina’s wife. The sentence closed the criminal case with Reyes-Luna convicted and condemned to spend the rest of his life in prison for the shooting that took Cintron-Molina’s life on West Market Street.
