In the late hours of a Thursday night in York, Pennsylvania, the life of 27-year-old Edward Allen Jarmond Jr. was tragically cut short. On August 22, 2019, police responded to a report of a shooting in the 600 block of Front Street and discovered Jarmond's body. An autopsy would later confirm that he died from a gunshot wound to the head, and his death was ruled a homicide.
Edward, born in York on March 12, 1992, was known as a social butterfly who enjoyed lyrical artistry, bike riding, and spending time with his family and friends.
The investigation into Jarmond's death continued for years. He was found naked, wearing only socks, with a chain and pendants near his body. Investigators recovered a. 40 caliber Smith & Wesson casing and a 9mm Luger casing at the scene. For more than five years, the case remained cold, leaving his loved ones without answers.
A break in the case came in March 2025, when authorities announced the arrests of three men in connection with Jarmond's murder. Anu-Malik Lee Johnson, 26, of York, Jakeem Woodard, 26, of Camp Hill, and Shandon Garner, 27, of Somerset, were charged with a host of crimes, including murder, robbery, and aggravated assault. Prosecutors alleged that the three men were part of a gang known as 'Addicted to Money' and were engaged in a series of robberies and home invasions.
According to charging documents, the trio had planned to rob someone and shoot them in the legs 'for laughs and giggles.' However, the encounter with Jarmond escalated, and Garner is accused of shooting him in the head. Following the homicide, Garner allegedly stated, 'The body is on everyone's hands because everyone shot,' to which Woodard and Johnson reportedly replied, 'Well you're the one who shot him in the head.' Garner is said to have laughed at their response. The investigation was aided by a grand jury and contributions from York's Group Violence Intervention initiative. Shandon Garner was charged with first-degree murder, while Anu-Malik Johnson and Jakeem Woodard faced charges of second-degree murder, along with numerous other offenses. At the time of his arrest, Garner was already serving a prison sentence for a separate third-degree murder conviction.
