In the spring of 2021, a senseless act of violence tragically cut short the life of 15-year-old Amir James. On the evening of May 31st, the young male was standing outside a deli on the corner of Lexington Avenue and East 123rd Street in East Harlem. His sister had just gone inside to buy a sandwich when gunfire suddenly erupted. In the chaos that ensued, Amir was struck in the torso by a stray bullet.
