On April 25, 2015, Justin Ballard, a 26-year-old White male from McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania, was fatally shot in the back while in the Third Street Park near Third and Amelia Streets. The incident occurred around 11:30 a.m., and Ballard was transported to Allegheny General Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The Allegheny County Medical Examiner ruled his death a homicide.
