The incident occurred around 3 p.m. on January 28th, just a few blocks from the home he shared with his wife and two young children. He was quickly transported to a nearby hospital, but tragically, he succumbed to his injuries.
Investigators believe that just before the shooting, Monti was seen getting into a dark gray Ford sedan, described by some as a Focus and others as a Fusion. Surveillance footage captured a similar vehicle speeding away from the area shortly after the gunshots rang out. This car became a central focus of the police investigation as they sought to identify and speak with the owner or driver.
In the months following the shooting, Robert's wife, Jennifer Monti, made public appeals for information, expressing her shock and devastation.
