In the late hours of a Sunday night in May, a quiet street in Mckees Rocks was shattered by violence that would claim the life of Chad Rock, a 34-year-old male. On May 6, 2018, events unfolded at a residence on Terrace Drive that ended in a fatal shooting.
The incident began when at least three masked men, all described as Black males, forced their way into the home. Once inside, the armed intruders restrained a woman and her two teenage sons with zip ties, demanding money and drugs. During the course of the home invasion, two men were shot. Chad Rock was shot in the torso and was pronounced dead at the scene. The second victim, a 37-year-old man, was also shot in the torso and transported to a local hospital for his injuries.
In the aftermath of the shooting, neighbors expressed their shock and devastation, recalling Rock as a father of two teenage boys. Investigators learned that the home was equipped with surveillance cameras, which neighbors hoped would provide leads to the suspects.
Despite the initial investigation and pleas to the public for information, no arrests have been made in the case. Pittsburgh Crime Stoppers issued a call for help from the community, offering a reward of up to $1,000 for any information that would lead to the arrest and prosecution of the individuals responsible for the death of Chad Rock. The case remains an unsolved homicide, and authorities have continued to ask that anyone with information contact the Allegheny County Police tip line.
