In the Juniata Park neighborhood of Philadelphia, a young man's life was tragically cut short in a violent encounter. Twenty-year-old Donald Eugene Green was fatally shot on the evening of January 27, 2016. The incident unfolded around 8:13 p.m. in the doorway of the Edwards Grocery Store, located on the 4200 block of Neilson Street. Green, who was with a 19-year-old friend at the time, was approached by two men who attempted to rob them.
During the course of the robbery, one of the
assailants shot Green twice at close range. Responding officers found him bleeding and unresponsive. He was rushed to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 8:51 p.m.
In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, the Philadelphia police began their search for the two male suspects. They released descriptions to the public in the hopes of generating leads. The first suspect was described as being between 19 and 20 years old, standing approximately 6 feet tall with a thin build and a clean-shaven face. He was last seen wearing a dark gray hooded sweatshirt and dark pants. The second suspect was described as being in his mid-20s, with a stockier build and standing about 5 feet 6 inches tall. His attire consisted of a black pea coat, a dark skull cap, and black boots.
