In the spring of 2016, a violent encounter in South Philadelphia's Point Breeze neighborhood claimed the life of 26-year-old Jessie Williams. On the afternoon of Friday, April 29, Williams was inside his 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee on the 2000 block of Wharton Street when a shootout erupted. The gunfire left Williams fatally wounded. Responding officers found him inside his vehicle, and he was rushed to Jefferson Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries at 5:06 p.m.
