In the early hours of a Monday morning in Philadelphia, the life of 30-year-old Alhaji “Haji” Koroma was tragically cut short. On May 22, 2023, Koroma, a Black male, was shot and killed in the Wynnefield section of the city. The incident, a double shooting, also claimed the life of another man, 26-year-old Ahmed Kamara.
The fatal events unfolded at approximately 3:08 a.m. on the 1700 block of North Ruby Street.
When Philadelphia Police officers arrived at the scene, they found both Koroma and Kamara lying in the street with gunshot wounds. Emergency medical services were called, and medics pronounced Ahmed Kamara dead at the scene.
Alhaji Koroma was rushed to a nearby hospital by police. Despite the efforts of the medical staff to save him, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at 3:33 a.m. The Philadelphia Police Department has classified the case as a homicide.
As of now, the investigation into the deaths of Alhaji Koroma and Ahmed Kamara remains ongoing. Authorities have not publicly identified any suspects or made any arrests in connection with the double homicide. The case is considered an unsolved murder, and the Philadelphia Police Department continues to appeal to the public for any information that might lead to a breakthrough in the investigation and bring those responsible to justice.
