On May 22, 2023, at approximately 3:08 a.m., Philadelphia Police responded to reports of a shooting on the 1700 block of North Ruby Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered two men lying in the street with gunshot wounds. One of the victims, identified as 30-year-old Alhaji "Haji" Koroma, was transported to Lankenau Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased at 3:33 a.m. The second victim, Ahmed "Meddy" Koroma, was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.
