In the fall of 2022, a tragedy unfolded in Philadelphia that cut short the life of Edward N. Dyches. A 43-year-old Black male, Dyches became a victim of gun violence on September 30th of that year. His life was taken inside a building located on the 5500 block of South Hill Creek Drive, where he was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds.
Despite the immediate response and efforts of medical personnel who arrived at the scene, the injuries Dyches sustained were too severe.
He was pronounced deceased right there inside the building, leaving behind a community to mourn and a crime for authorities to solve. The Philadelphia Police Department opened an investigation into the shooting, but the case has remained a difficult one.
To date, the investigation into Edward N. Dyches's death has not led to any arrests, and no suspects have been publicly identified. The case remains open and is considered unsolved. His family and friends were left to grieve, with a viewing and a celebration of his life held on October 14, 2022, at the Alfonso Cannon Funeral Chapels, Inc. in Philadelphia.
