Janice Trunk, a 54-year-old woman from Ambler, PA, tragically passed away on July 31, 2016. She was born on March 30, 1962, in Abington, PA, and was a graduate of Wissahickon High School. Janice was known for her hardworking, kind, and generous nature. She is survived by her son, Joshua Trunk, and her sister, Kimberly Trunk. Her death was sudden and unexpected, leaving her family and friends in deep mourning.

The investigation into Janice Trunk's death revealed a heartbreaking and violent crime. On July 31, 2016, Janice Trunk and her boyfriend, Kevin Milton Smith, were shot and killed in their apartment at the Forest Garden Apartments in Ambler. The suspect, Janice's 20-year-old son, Joshua Trunk, was arrested and later convicted of first-degree murder for the deaths of his mother and her boyfriend. The prosecution described the killings as execution-style, cold-blooded murders. Joshua Trunk was sentenced to two consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole.

The case highlighted a tragic family violence situation. Joshua Trunk was reportedly upset with his mother for having him checked into Eagleville Hospital to deal with drug addiction. The investigation involved a thorough examination by the Ambler Police and Montgomery County Detectives, who found no signs of forced entry or struggle at the scene. Cellphone records and other evidence linked Joshua Trunk to the crime, including an illegal purchase of a gun the day before the murders.

The sentencing of Joshua Trunk brought some measure of justice for the victims and their families. However, the loss of Janice Trunk and Kevin Milton Smith remains a painful reminder of the devastating impact of family violence and the importance of addressing mental health and addiction issues within families.
