The devastating events took place in Sinking Spring, where Mark lived with his parents, Mark and Megan Short, and his two sisters, 8-year-old Liana and 2-year-old Willow.
The family had faced struggles, with reports indicating domestic issues between the parents. Megan had expressed fear of her husband and was reportedly planning to leave him.
On that fateful August day, the authorities were called to the family's home for a welfare check after Megan failed to show up for a prearranged meeting.
