Bruce Sellers, a 57-year-old male from Reading, PA, tragically died on September 11, 2022, from gunshot wounds sustained during a robbery in his apartment. The incident occurred around 1:40 a.m. when three men, including Andre Davis and Michael Williams, forcibly entered Sellers' apartment with the intent to steal a gun. During the robbery, Bruce Sellers was shot in the head, leading to his death at the scene.
Following the incident, an extensive investigation was launched by the Reading Police Department. Andre Davis was arrested on October 20, 2022, and charged with first-degree murder, burglary, and conspiracy. He was held in Berks County Prison without bail. Michael Williams was later taken into custody by the United States Marshals Service Task Force on October 27, 2022, and faced charges of burglary, conspiracy to commit burglary, criminal trespass, and conspiracy to trespass.
A third accomplice, Tyree Cleveland, was identified as the shooter. Cleveland, who had a criminal history including a drug-trafficking conviction, pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and was sentenced to life without parole. He was already serving a life sentence for a previous murder in Lycoming County.
The investigation revealed that Davis, known by the nickname "Baby," had an altercation with Sellers earlier in the day before the robbery. Security camera footage showed Davis holding open a door for Williams and Cleveland to enter the apartment building. Witnesses confirmed that Cleveland was the one who pistol-whipped Sellers and demanded to know the whereabouts of the gun before shooting him.
