In the summer of 2016, a heart-wrenching tragedy unfolded in Reading, Pennsylvania, claiming the life of 8-year-old Liana Grace Short. On August 6, 2016, Liana, her 5-year-old brother Mark and her 2-year-old sister Willow, were found deceased in their home. The young female child was a victim of a devastating murder-suicide orchestrated by her own father.
Liana was an avid reader who was known for her witty and sassy personality. She had a love for school, art, dressing up, and playing tricks on her family. Her life, full of promise and youthful energy, was cut short in an act of violence that also took the lives of her mother, Megan, and her younger siblings.
The investigation determined that Liana's father was the perpetrator of the horrific event. After taking the lives of his wife, three children, and the family dog, he then took his own life. This conclusion to the investigation meant there were no arrests to be made and no ensuing trial. The community was left to mourn the loss of an entire family, including a bright and spirited 8-year-old girl.
