On August 26, 2016, 24-year-old Alex Hartzell, a white male from Pottstown, PA, was found shot multiple times in the backyard of a residence on East Chestnut Street in Coatesville. Hartzell, who was homeless and occasionally stayed in shelters in Coatesville, was discovered by police responding to a report of gunshots. He had been shot 11 times in the body and head.
