On January 15, 2017, Sean-D Jones, a 16-year-old Black male, was tragically shot and killed inside his father's store on the 200 block of N. 52nd Street in West Philadelphia. Sean was inside Gary Global Links Video Productions when an unidentified gunman entered the store and opened fire, striking him once in the head. His father, who was working at the store, found Sean on the floor moments after the shooting.
Despite being rushed to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Sean was pronounced dead at 3:14 p.m.
The incident occurred shortly before 1 p.m., and although police have access to surveillance footage showing the gunman entering the store, no arrests have been made, and the weapon used in the shooting has not been recovered. The case remains unsolved, and the Philadelphia Police Department continues to urge anyone with information to come forward.
Sean was a student at Overbrook High School and had moved to Philadelphia from Jamaica with his family to pursue a better education. Described as a quiet and nice boy who loved school, Sean often did his homework inside the store where he was killed. His family and friends are still seeking justice for his untimely death, hoping that someone will come forward with information to help solve the case.
