On a late summer evening in Philadelphia, the life of Nyher Griffin, a 27-year-old Black man, was tragically cut short. On August 24, 2022, at approximately 8:24 p.m., Griffin was on the 2800 block of North 26th Street when he was struck by multiple gunshots.
Following the shooting, Griffin was transported in a private vehicle to Temple University Hospital. He had sustained gunshot wounds to his chest and neck.
Despite the efforts of medical staff, he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.
The Philadelphia Police Department immediately launched an investigation into the deadly shooting. In the initial stages of the investigation, authorities reported that no arrests had been made and no weapons had been recovered from the scene.
