On a late Saturday night in May 2017, the sound of what some neighbors dismissed as firecrackers echoed through the 1800 block of Wesley Street in McKeesport. It was around 10 p.m. on May 27th when the tragic reality of the noise became clear. Inside his home, 31-year-old Antonio Wallace, a male resident of the community, was struck by multiple bullets in what would be a fatal shooting. First responders arrived to a grim scene, finding Wallace with gunshot wounds.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation that followed revealed a chilling sequence of events. Authorities determined that one or more individuals had fired at least 15 shots from outside Wallace's house, directly through his living room window. The bullets struck him in the back, inflicting the fatal injuries. The Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office later confirmed that Wallace died from multiple gunshot wounds to the torso and right thigh, officially ruling his death a homicide.
In the aftermath of the shooting, the community was left with questions and a sense of unease. Homicide detectives began an investigation, appealing to the public for any information that might lead to the apprehension of those responsible for Antonio Wallace's death. Pittsburgh Crime Stoppers offered a reward for information that could help solve the case. However, despite these efforts, no immediate arrests were announced in connection with the shooting.
