Daniel Keith Smith Jr., age 34, was last in contact with his family in June 2011. At the time, he was believed to be residing either in the unincorporated areas around Grass Valley, California, or possibly in South Sacramento. His disappearance became more mysterious when, in June 2012, his maroon Honda Civic was discovered abandoned near the Buckeye Flat trailhead in the El Dorado National Forest.
Next to the vehicle was an abandoned campsite, but despite extensive searches by El Dorado County Search and Rescue teams, no trace of Daniel was found.
Described as 5'7" tall with long brown hair, typically worn in a ponytail, and green eyes, Daniel also had a noticeable scar on his chest. His disappearance is classified as an endangered missing person case due to the suspicious circumstances surrounding his vehicle's abandonment and the lack of further communication with family or friends after June 2011.
The Nevada County Sheriff's Office has continued to investigate his case, but little new information has emerged. Despite the efforts of search teams and the involvement of multiple agencies, the circumstances of Daniel's disappearance remain unresolved.Last Seen: Jun 1, 2011
