In the early morning hours of July 30, 2017, the life of James Wesley Bair, a 45-year-old Black/African American male from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, was tragically cut short. He was discovered on a city street in the first block of North 18th Street, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite the swift response of emergency personnel, Mr. Bair succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Known affectionately as “Big Bair” to his family and friends, he was
remembered as a family man who graduated from Harrisburg High School and had a passion for construction work and music. His sudden and violent death left his loved ones, including his mother and stepfather, sister, and a host of other relatives and friends, grappling with an unexpected loss.
Harrisburg Police quickly launched a homicide investigation into the shooting, which they believed to be a targeted attack. Detectives began the arduous process of searching for clues and canvassing for any potential witnesses who might have information about the incident. However, the investigation was met with significant challenges, and no suspects were immediately identified or taken into custody.
In the years that have passed since James Wesley Bair's death, his case has remained unsolved.
