On the evening of August 27, 2016, at approximately 9:24 p.m., Philadelphia Police Officers responded to a shooting incident on the 1700 block of North Newkirk Street. Upon arrival, they discovered Nashawn Jones, a 25-year-old Black male, suffering from a gunshot wound to his chest. Officers immediately transported him to Temple University Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries that night. Nashawn resided on the 2000 block of West Toronto Street in Philadelphia.
