On the evening of September 5, 2017, a tragedy unfolded in a Philadelphia neighborhood that would leave a family and community searching for answers. Elijah Burgess, a 24-year-old Black male, was on the 3000 block of North 25th Street at approximately 7:05 p.m. when he was shot multiple times. The gunshots shattered the evening calm and altered the course of many lives forever.
