Death by Force

Jimmy Avila-Velez, a 26-year-old male of Hispanic ethnicity, was tragically shot and killed on November 10, 2017, in York, Pennsylvania. The incident occurred around 8:37 p.m. in the 500 block of West Newton Avenue. Avila-Velez was walking on West Poplar Street near where it changes to Newton Avenue when he was shot by another person. The York County Coroner's Office determined that the cause of death was a gunshot wound to the neck and torso, and the manner of death was ruled a homicide.
