On a visit to his aunt's home in the Germantown neighborhood of Philadelphia, 37-year-old Antonio Ashby Baggs, a Black/African American male, was shot and killed on September 1, 2018. Just a couple of hours prior to the tragic incident, at approximately 8:00 p.m., Baggs had arrived in the city from Florida, accompanied by his fiancée and their two children.
At around 10:04 p.m., Philadelphia Police Officers were dispatched to the 100 block of West Abbottsford Avenue following reports of
a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered Baggs inside his 2018 white Dodge Durango, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite the immediate response from law enforcement, Antonio Baggs did not survive his injuries.
Those who knew him described Antonio as a good man who was dedicated to his work and family, with a passion for fishing. They stated that he was a peaceful person who would not harm anyone and was loved by all who knew him.
As of now, the murder of Antonio Baggs remains unsolved. The Philadelphia Police Department continues to investigate the case and has appealed to the public for any information that might lead to the apprehension of the person or persons responsible for his death. No suspects have been publicly identified, and no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting. The case has left his loved ones seeking answers and justice for his untimely death.
