On May 26, 2019, in Chester Heights, Pennsylvania, 44-year-old Joseph Iavarone, a former teacher and coach, was fatally shot by his neighbor, 49-year-old John Ballas. The incident occurred around 3:30 a.m. on the 100 block of Bishops Drive. Authorities reported that an argument between the two men escalated, leading to Ballas shooting Iavarone in the head. Iavarone was transported to Crozer Chester Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries on May 27, 2019.
