In the morning hours of a Sunday in October 2019, tragedy struck in the Holmesburg section of Philadelphia. On October 27th, at approximately 9:27 a.m., police responded to a call on the 4700 block of Shelmire Avenue. There, they discovered 20-year-old Shahib Williams, a Black male, who had sustained a fatal gunshot wound. Paramedics arrived at the scene but were unable to save him, and he was pronounced dead.
Shahib Williams, a resident of the 4700 block of Oakmont Street, was found to
have been shot in the back of the head. The incident left a community searching for answers and a family grappling with a sudden and violent loss. Investigators began to piece together the events that led to the young man's death.
According to reports, two suspects were seen fleeing the scene down an alleyway immediately following the shooting. Despite this initial lead, the investigation has not yet led to an arrest. No weapon was recovered from the scene, and the case remains an active and unsolved homicide. Detectives from the Philadelphia Police Department continue to seek information from the public to bring those responsible for Shahib Williams' death to justice.
