Christian Moore-Rouse, a 22-year-old male of African American ethnicity, tragically died on December 21, 2019, in Pittsburgh, PA. His body was discovered on March 3, 2020, in a wooded area near Fox Chapel, Pennsylvania. The cause of death was determined to be a gunshot wound to the head, and the manner of death was ruled a homicide.
Adam Rosenberg, a 21-year-old acquaintance of Moore-Rouse from Community College of Allegheny County, was arrested and charged with Moore-Rouse's murder.
According to investigators, Rosenberg lured Moore-Rouse to his home under the pretense of playing video games and smoking marijuana. Shortly after Moore-Rouse's arrival, Rosenberg shot him in the back of the head and dragged his body to the wooded area.
Rosenberg was also charged with the February 15, 2020, shooting death of Jeremy Dentel, 28, of Baldwin, Pennsylvania. The Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office offered Rosenberg a plea deal of "guilty but mentally ill" for both murders, which would result in concurrent life sentences without parole. Rosenberg's trial for both cases was scheduled to begin in May 2022.
In addition to the criminal charges, Moore-Rouse's mother, T. Lee Rouse, filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Rosenberg and his parents, alleging that they knew about the murder and failed to report it. The lawsuit also accused Rosenberg's parents and their marriage counselor of concealing evidence and stalling the investigation.
The case has drawn significant attention due to the severe psychiatric illness of the suspect, which led to prolonged inpatient and outpatient treatment. Despite medical advice to follow treatment and take medication, Rosenberg failed to comply, resulting in the tragic deaths.
The investigation into Moore-Rouse's death and the subsequent legal proceedings have been ongoing, with the community and Moore-Rouse's family seeking justice for the young man's untimely death.
