In the early morning hours of May 16, 2021, the life of 31-year-old Darnell Wofford of McKees Rocks was tragically cut short in a barrage of gunfire. The incident unfolded around 3:45 a.m. in Pittsburgh's Homewood West neighborhood, just outside the Black Pearl Bar on the 600 block of N. Dallas Avenue. A ShotSpotter alert, detecting 11 rounds fired, brought police to the scene where they discovered Mr. Wofford suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Shortly after the shooting that claimed Darnell Wofford's life, a second man appeared at a local hospital with a gunshot wound to his hand. The investigation into the homicide is ongoing, and in June 2021, Pittsburgh police sought public assistance by releasing surveillance photos of a person of interest. Homicide detectives urged anyone with information regarding the identity of the male in the photos to come forward. At this time, no arrests have been publicly announced in connection with the fatal shooting.
