In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, on the afternoon of April 23, 2020, 17-year-old Tahj Williams was fatally shot in what investigators have described as a tragic case of mistaken identity. The shooting occurred in broad daylight in front of a smoke shop at the intersection of 65th Street and Dicks Avenue in the Elmwood Park section of Southwest Philadelphia. Two other teenagers who were with Williams at the time were also wounded in the attack.
