On the evening of July 20, 2020, a triple shooting shattered the night on the 5000 block of Chester Avenue in Philadelphia. Responding to the call at approximately 9:45 p.m., police officers discovered 21-year-old Semaj Carter inside a black Mercedes, suffering from a gunshot wound to his back. He was a Black male who resided in Philadelphia.
The officers acted quickly, transporting Carter in their patrol vehicle to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center. Despite their efforts, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead later that night. Two other young men were also victims of the gunfire. A 17-year-old was shot in the face and taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, while a 14-year-old was shot in the chest and transported to the Children's Hospital of Pennsylvania.
The investigation into the shooting that claimed Semaj Carter's life remains ongoing. As of now, the case is considered an unsolved murder. Authorities have not publicly identified any suspects or made any arrests in connection with the incident. Detectives are urging anyone with information to come forward and contact the Philadelphia Police Department to help bring closure to his family and community.
