Randy Lamar Edwards, a 33-year-old Black man, was tragically shot and killed in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on the morning of November 17, 2020. The incident occurred around 11 a.m. in the city's Hill District, where first responders discovered Edwards on Bedford Avenue with a gunshot wound to his chest. He was immediately transported to a local hospital in critical condition but was pronounced dead a short time later.
During the initial investigation, law enforcement learned of a second
individual who had also sustained a gunshot wound in the same event. This person, who was not publicly identified, independently sought medical attention at a nearby hospital and was reported to be in stable condition. The investigation into the shooting led police to a vehicle that they believed was connected to the incident. This discovery prompted a response from the SWAT team to a residence on Tilbury Avenue just before noon on the same day. After issuing verbal commands for anyone inside to exit, SWAT officers entered and searched the home but found it to be empty.
As of early 2021, authorities had not publicly identified any suspects in the shooting death of Randy Lamar Edwards, and no arrests had been announced in connection with the case. The investigation into his death remains ongoing.
