In the early afternoon of a Tuesday in Philadelphia, specifically April 6, 2021, a burst of violence shattered the day's calm in the Kensington neighborhood. It was approximately 1:02 p.m. when police were called to the 800 block of East Madison Street, responding to reports of a person with a gun. The victim was 43-year-old Wilfredo Couvertier, a Black/African American male.
Shot in the chest, Couvertier was rushed to Episcopal Hospital by a private vehicle in a desperate attempt to save his life. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, the injury proved to be fatal.
