On a Tuesday evening, June 1, 2021, the life of 22-year-old Dashean Lee, a Black male from Philadelphia, was tragically cut short. At approximately 9:52 p.m., Philadelphia Police officers were called to the 1200 block of East Chelten Avenue following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they discovered Lee lying wounded in the street.
Emergency responders quickly transported him to Albert Einstein Medical Center.
Despite the efforts of medical staff, Dashean Lee succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead later that night. Another individual, a 27-year-old man, was also a victim in the shooting, sustaining a gunshot wound to his ankle. He was taken to the same hospital and was listed in stable condition.
Residing on East Stafford Street, Lee's death left a void in the lives of those who knew him. The investigation into the double shooting is ongoing, but authorities have not yet publicly identified any suspects or made any arrests in connection with the case. Detectives from the Philadelphia Police Department continue to seek information from the public to bring those responsible for Dashean Lee's death to justice.
