On a Tuesday night in Philadelphia, the 2100 block of Marston Terrace was disturbed by the sound of gunfire. It was September 21, 2021, and just before 11:30 p.m., police were called to the scene where they found 27-year-old Ishmael Goodwin lying in the street. The young Black male had been shot multiple times. He was rushed to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he died later that night.
The violence of that evening also left another person
wounded. A 57-year-old Black woman was struck by a bullet in her leg. She was taken to Jefferson Hospital and was listed in stable condition. Ishmael Goodwin was a resident of Marston Terrace, the very street where his life was taken.
In the time that has passed since that fatal September night, no arrests have been made in connection with the murder of Ishmael Goodwin. The case remains an open and active investigation by the Philadelphia Police Department. Authorities have not publicly identified any suspects in the shooting. The police are urging anyone with information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to come forward and assist in their investigation. A substantial reward is being offered for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for Goodwin's death.
