On a Tuesday evening in Philadelphia, on October 23, 2021, gunfire erupted on the 1900 block of Gerritt Street, shattering the night's calm. In the aftermath, 34-year-old Kashiff Carr, a Black male, found himself gravely wounded. Despite his injuries, Carr, along with another 32-year-old man who was also shot, managed to drive to a nearby firehouse at 20th and Federal Streets seeking help.
From the firehouse, both men were rushed to Jefferson Hospital.
While the second victim was listed in stable condition, Carr's injuries proved to be too severe. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, he succumbed to his gunshot wound later that evening. His official date of death is also recorded as October 28, 2021.
The Philadelphia Police Department opened a homicide investigation into Carr's death, which remains unsolved.
