On a Tuesday evening in Philadelphia, on October 23, 2021, gunfire erupted on the 1900 block of Gerritt Street, shattering the night's calm. In the aftermath, 34-year-old Kashiff Carr, a Black male, found himself gravely wounded. Despite his injuries, Carr, along with another 32-year-old man who was also shot, managed to drive to a nearby firehouse at 20th and Federal Streets seeking help.
