On October 17, 2023, at approximately 11:46 a.m., Philadelphia Police responded to a shooting incident on the 500 block of North 57th Street in West Philadelphia. Upon arrival, officers discovered 36-year-old Terrell Lubin lying in the street with a gunshot wound to the chest. They immediately transported him to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly before noon.
Investigations revealed that Lubin, a resident of Southwest Philadelphia, had been involved in an argument with a 72-year-old coworker at the time of the shooting. Following the altercation, the coworker allegedly shot Lubin and then fled to a residence on the 100 block of North Ruby Street. Police established a barricade around the home, believing the suspect was inside. After a two-hour standoff, SWAT teams entered the property but found it unoccupied, indicating the suspect had evaded capture.
The Philadelphia District Attorney's Office later identified the suspect as Anthony Young, who has a prior conviction for homicide. A Ruger .357 firearm and a spent shell casing were recovered at the scene of the murder. As of December 2023, Young remains at large, and authorities have issued a warrant for his arrest. The Philadelphia Police Department continues to seek information regarding his whereabouts.
