Patel Grogan, a 24-year-old man from Erie, PA, tragically died on November 20, 2021, from a gunshot wound to the head. His death was ruled a homicide by Erie County Coroner Lyell Cook. Grogan was initially taken to Saint Vincent Hospital by a private vehicle before being transferred to UPMC Hamot, where he was pronounced dead. Investigators believe he was shot inside the vehicle that transported him to the hospital.
The incident occurred when Grogan and two others were in a vehicle driven by Anika N. Duran, a 21-year-old resident of Millcreek Township. According to Duran, Grogan had her pick up a third person, Adrian A. Thrower, 24, who later pulled out a gun and fired it before fleeing the scene. Duran was charged with criminal homicide, second-degree murder, and felony robbery, while Thrower was charged with homicide, second-degree murder, robbery, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm prohibited.
As of now, Thrower remains at large, and the investigation continues. Erie police have been actively searching for surveillance footage and interviewing witnesses to gather more evidence. The case has drawn significant attention due to the violent nature of the crime and the ongoing efforts to bring the perpetrators to justice.
