Shahiem "Mugga" Carr, a 27-year-old male of African American ethnicity, was tragically shot and killed on July 6, 2022, in the 300 block of West Philadelphia Street in York, Pennsylvania. Carr, a father of two, was found at 11:13 a.m. that morning. The incident involved multiple suspects, and the investigation led to several arrests and legal proceedings over the following months.
On July 11, 2022, 26-year-old Jacquez Davon Brown was arrested and charged with Carr's murder.
Brown, who was out on bail for witness intimidation charges after being exonerated for a previous murder, was found with a significant weapons stash at his home during a warranted search. The police also announced the arrest of 21-year-old Rashad Malik Colon and 22-year-old Antonio Joseph Jones on April 11, 2023. However, charges against Jones were later withdrawn based on video evidence.
In October 2024, Furman Dennis III, then 21 years old, was charged with Carr's murder, making him the fourth person arrested in connection with the case. Dennis was held without bail and was identified as one of the shooters who allegedly fired at Carr as he stepped out of his home. The suspects reportedly used a gold Ford Fusion to transport themselves to and from the scene.
The investigation revealed that nearly 100 bullets were fired during the incident, and Carr was chased into a breezeway before succumbing to his injuries.
