In the early hours of August 6, 2022, Troy Allen Rickenbach, a 37-year-old male, was fatally shot while on duty as a security guard in Morgantown, Pennsylvania. The incident occurred around 12:10 a.m. in the area of Quarry Road and Mineview Drive in New Morgan Borough. Rickenbach and his partner were patrolling the property of Pinnacle Transport Company due to a recent string of catalytic converter thefts.
According to the investigation by the Pennsylvania State Police, Rickenbach
approached a suspicious darker blue Dodge or Chrysler minivan that was on the lot. As he returned to his own vehicle, where his partner was on the phone with 911, an assailant opened fire on them. Rickenbach was killed, and his 43-year-old partner sustained a gunshot wound to the arm and was subsequently hospitalized.
Authorities have identified a person of interest in the homicide. He is described as a white male, approximately 6 feet tall and weighing around 230 pounds, with a reddish-brown beard and was seen wearing a baseball cap. The Pennsylvania State Police have released a composite sketch of this individual to the public in the hopes of generating leads.
